Danny Chesterman

Danny is a Senior Associate of the Diversity Practice. He is an experienced consultant specialising in leadership development and whole system change in Public Service. His passion is in learning across boundaries: professional, organisational, cultural.

Danny has over 25 years experience of working in and with the public service, the last 10 of which he has been consulting at Chief Executive and Board level, in councils, government departments, education, probation, police and health service organisations. He has held associate or employed relationships with SOLACE Enterprises, Bath Consultancy Group and the National School for Government and now works mainly through Ashridge Consulting.

Danny has worked with the Diversity Practice in a strategic review of Board performance in the North West Strategic Health Authority and has completed training in the Factor 8 Different Leaders Assessment Tool. He was first drawn to the work of the Diversity Practice because it has strong links to complexity science, sees organisations as social processes, and the approach to leadership development is rooted in individual authenticity.

In the last few years a diverse range of client assignments includes:

  • Developing performance cultures in FE colleges
  • Board facilitation of Action on Disability and Development
  • Coaching supervision in Department of Work and Pensions and Ministry of Justice
  • Enabling community engagement in the Maidstone Local Development Framework
  • Performance management skills development in the Teacher Support Network
  • Developing capacity within the DWP centre of excellence in Organisational Capability
  • Co-Directing the cross sector accredited National Leaders UK leadership programme

Danny is an accredited coach with the Association of Executive Coaches and Supervisors and holds an MA in Management Learning from Lancaster University.
